Cancer
The American Cancer Society estimates that 1,479,350 cases of cancer will be diagnosed in 2009 and 562,340 Americans will succumb to this disease. Cancer accounts for every one in four deaths in the United States and is the second largest result of mortality next to heart disease. Early detection is the key to survival as most cancers are treatable at this stage. Nearly half of all new cancer cases can be prevented by early screening.
